“Natural Selection” is a series of portraits of scientists created by Skull-A-Day’s Noah Scalin (previously) using everyday materials like feathers, computer keys and watch parts. The project explores the lives of great scientists whose work has had an incredible impact on the world. Via his website, “Each image is made up of the portrait of a deceased scientist and a representation of his/her skull. The skull is made by literally rearranging the elements used in the portrait. The scientists represented are all great thinkers whose creations had an impact on our lives today, but also serious repercussions for their own lives (and deaths): Charles Darwin, Nikola Tesla, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Alan Turing, and Rosalind Franklin.” Natural Selection will be on display at Krause Gallery 149 Orchard St. NYC from October 17 through November 24.
